Game Cancelled Due to Snow

UPDATE: Game is back ON! Way to go, Chicago! This means I still have a chance to get my medal that I want so bad. I just need my back to be better!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm calling it. I'm as sad as I was when Game 1 of the Tigers playoffs was called off due to rain. We were READY!

My back started spasm-ing on Tuesday. Since then the spasms have desisted, however, the area is still very sensitive and sore. I paid for the half-marathon and recently decided that I was not mentally there to complete all 13.1 miles. I was OK with that. So I decided to run the 10K there. Then the back started to go.

Yesterday, I sat at my desk and really thought hard about what to do. I'm not ready to run by any means. (I'm hoping for Monday, as a week off has never killed anyone) I thought about walking the 5K. It's super easy, I can probably do it by Saturday, the risk is low.

THEN THE SNOW STARTED! It's now snowing in Chicago where we could get up to 6" by the end of the day tomorrow. JUST in time for the race on Saturday. The runner in me is screaming, "There is a medal at the end AND you paid $55 for this thing." The homebody in me is screaming, "There will be snow and it's going to be 20 degrees, you KNOW that walking is harder than running on you and you will barely be able to keep warm on the lakefront."

So I'm calling the game. It's over.

I know I'm smart because I have A LOT to think about and 3 other races that I have already paid for and are in a matter of weeks. I also have to be able to walk down the aisle without grimacing in pain.

In the end, it's the right thing to do. The cons outweigh the pros. For now I will be sticking to the stationary bike and the elliptical (hopefully) so I don't strain myself but also, I don't lose any aerobic capacity or strength. I will try to forget the money I spent on it. And I'll be OK.
